The Cornerstone

The Board of The Master Apartments invites you to The Master: Approaching 85 on Saturday, March 1, 10 am – 2 pm.

Celebrating the 85th Anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone of the Art Deco landmark Master Apartments in 1929, the program includes a Champagne Reception, Presentations and Continental Breakfast.

Carol Willis, director of The Skyscraper Museum, will discuss Harvey Wiley Corbett, the principal architect, and the building’s architectural significance.  The program will also include remarks by Manju Kak, author of “Nicholas Roerich, A Quest & A Legacy”; Ed Sherin, director/producer, with reflections on the Equity Library Theater. Gary Dennis, an Upper West Side historian, will offer personal reminiscences. The historic Master building housed the Roerich Museum and the Master Institute of United Artists. The Equity Library Theater was also located in the apartment complex for many years.
